Thae Su Nyein has officially been stripped of her Second Runner-up crown in the Miss Grand International 2024 pageant.
After the finale, Thae Su Nyein left abruptly and was absent from the competition's first press conference. The National Director of Miss Grand Myanmar criticized the Miss Grand International 2024 pageant, claiming that the 17-year-old beauty queen was treated unfairly.
On the afternoon of October 27, during a press briefing, Mr. Nawat, President of the Miss Grand International organization, announced the severance of ties with the National Director of Miss Grand Myanmar, Soe Min Tun, while offering an "open opportunity" to Thae Su Nyein. However, in a livestream on October 27, Thae Su Nyein declared that she would return the Second Runner-up crown, choosing instead to stand by her National Director, Soe Min Tun.
She also expressed disappointment over not winning the Best National Costume and Country’s Power of the Year awards, suggesting that the results lacked transparency.
Thae Su Nyein stated, "I don’t need the Second Runner-up title, nor do I want to hold that position. I will stay by my national director. I came to win the crown, not to place second or third."
Her remarks sparked significant backlash on beauty forums, with many criticizing her for an arrogant attitude, asserting that she deserved the crown.

Earlier, during her participation in Miss Grand International 2024, Thae Su Nyein was often noted for displaying arrogant and haughty behavior toward other contestants, despite being the youngest participant in the pageant.
Currently, the Miss Grand International fan page only showcases the nine beauty queens who won titles as Miss and runners-up this year, excluding Thae Su Nyein.
In a livestream, the Myanmar beauty stated she held no ill feelings toward the new Miss Grand International or the first runner-up. She entered the 2024 competition with strong determination, representing the hopes of Myanmar fans, and felt disappointed that her efforts were not acknowledged.
Thae Su Nyein was a standout contestant at Miss Grand International 2024. From the beginning, the 17-year-old beauty garnered attention from beauty forums and viewers, who predicted a high placement for her.
Throughout the competition, she consistently shone at the right moments, demonstrating her 1.75m height, strong stage presence, beautiful face, and impressive speaking skills.
However, according to President Nawat, Thae Su Nyein lacked a bit of emotional restraint needed to be a queen. He believed the Second Runner-up title was fitting for Myanmar’s representative.
