Why did Thang (Ngot Band) face backlash and calls for a boycott from the audience?

In recent days, Thắng (former member of the band Ngọt) has become the center of attention on social media after being accused of infidelity, neglecting his wife and children, and making posts related to illegal substances. Following these personal controversies, the male singer was removed from two music shows.

On the evening of April 30, the organizers of the music festival "Nhung Thanh Pho Mo Mang" officially announced that Thắng would not be appearing at the July concert in Hanoi. They explained: "After listening to community feedback and discussing thoroughly, the organizing committee decided that not having Thắng in the event's artist lineup is the best option at this time. We hope this decision is met with understanding."

At the same time, the music show "Sạp Show 4," scheduled for May 11 in Ho Chi Minh City, also announced they would no longer be working with Thắng. "After discussing and working directly with Thắng's representative, due to personal reasons from the artist, both the organizers and Thắng decided to cease cooperation for the performance at Sạp Show 4," they stated. Additionally, they offered a 60% refund to audience members who chose not to continue supporting the show.

The news of Thắng being dropped from two shows in one night sparked significant interest online. Many expressed support for the organizers’ decisions, given that the former Ngọt member has been embroiled in multiple personal scandals recently. Comments like, "Thank you for making the right decision," "Artists inspire their fans. If an artist's personal life is bad, I will boycott them because they no longer deserve it," and "If he performed, wouldn't he just get pelted with eggs and vegetables?" flooded social media. Some fans even said, "If Thắng were in the lineup, I wouldn’t attend," and "I boycott artists who are not fit to be public figures."

Over the past few days, Thắng has been the focus of attention on social media. On the night of April 27, he posted several cryptic messages on his personal account, referencing names like Nhung, Giang, Nấm (his ex-wife's nickname), and even singer Amee. Some of Thắng's posts read: "Nấm, I love you," "Nấm, I've never not loved you," "So I tell you, Nấm," and "Both Giang and Nhung are free for Nấm." The situation escalated when Thắng shocked fans by mentioning illegal substances: "From now on, no more drugs." By the morning of April 28, Thắng had deactivated his personal Facebook account.

Following this, Bi Trố – a member of the band Cát Lún – accused Thắng of infidelity, neglecting his children, and harassing his ex-wife. Specifically, Bi Trố posted a message along with screenshots allegedly from Thắng’s ex-wife, accusing him of mistreating family members, harassing his ex-wife, and demanding the child support money back. The post gained massive attention and interaction on social media. As of now, Thắng has not responded to any of these allegations.

These incidents have tarnished Thắng’s image in the eyes of his fans. On social media, the singer born in 1995 has faced harsh criticism and calls for a boycott. Fans expressed disappointment in their former idol, and many strongly opposed his participation in future concerts, demanding that his name be removed from the lineup following his personal scandals.

The 29-year-old singer's silence after these scandals only fueled public outrage.
